Just a Bowl of Cherries
Low in calories (1/2 cup has only 52) and abundant in flavor, cherries contain soluble fiber and vitamin C as well as phytochemicals such as the flavonoid quercetin and phenolic compounds. In addition, anthocyanins, which provide a reddish-blue color to foods, are also found in cherries. Proponents of a folk remedy for gout believe that drinking cherry juice can help relive pain and inflammation linked to gout, though there is no scientific evidence to support this belief.
